light the fire - working title
-- jchris, 10/02/2005
help me light the fire
(we can change the world)
running from tomorrow
dancing into darkness
come with me
we’ll make the way
cast down your doubt
alongside your fear
destroy them, release yourself
now, forever
run with me
we’re almost there
if we falter
we’ll be returned to our cages
our matchbook lives
of chrome and glass
we must not fail-
our fate is worse than
our troubled lives before
(can you fathom it?)
light the fire
give shadows cause for fear
hope is our only escape
from your fears
our reality
run with me
we’re almost home
what waits is a bliss
beyond our mortal dreams
and should our hopes turn to lies
we remain better off dead
than returning to our lives
shrouded in fears and darkness
come with me
light the way
we will change the world
we must-
it is the only way
we could face our children
to not stare into
deep, brown eyes
and lose words to describe
the day our fear took hold
and hope left our hearts
run with me
our dreams demand it
our children deserve it
we have no choice
we must run
come with me
we’ll find the way

I've worked through some of the images/thoughts presented here, but in no way is it comprehensive or thorough and it's certainly not all the images you're dealing with. I've, sort of, explicated moments of inevitability and then built the bones of a poem around that. I know that's not what you're doing here, really, but perhaps it will shed some light or give you some ideas as to what you might use to thicken / concretize this poem (if you decide you want to). Anyway, I put it up @ light the fire RF attempts.--RFRY
