you’re running away

i know its coming

some kind of slow motion fadeout

your hair chasing after

and i keep expecting you

to at least look back

just for a second

to see if i’m chasing after you

every time i look back

you’re running away

i’m running too

as far away

as my legs can carry

every time i look back

i’m running away

you are the past

i wish i could forget

you are the silent knife

held close to my heart

but i’m the one that holds it there

every time i look back

i’m getting farther away

but when i look back

i’m not so sure you’re there

more and more i think

i’m running from myself.
