Versioning

Page history last edited by RFRY 3 yrs ago

Because every page's name must be unique, having different versions of each poem floating around could get kind of confusing, so I, at least, found a versioning system that I like. What I do: for each poem family, that is, each poem that I've got one or more versions for, I make a main page (like this one for In the Venusberg). It links to each successive version of the poem, which are each numbered with a "vX" where v = version and the X is what might be called the draft number.

Where this all gets a little harder is when you've taken on editing someone else's original material.

If you've changed their title, just link from the poem's main page or version page.

If you've retained their title, create your new poem with your initals somewhere before or after the the version number. For example, my rewriting/fiddling with of Christina's To my always never lover has its own page at To my always never lover RFv1 indicating both that it's based on / is a v1 and it's by me, not the original author. And since Christina's poem had a version page to begin with, I simply added my verion with a short note to her version list.

But that's just my system. As long as it's comprehensible, do whatever you want.
