It’s October and the gray monolith rises, incomplete.
You spent your childhood around half finished homes and
the cinderblock, rebar and framed wood standing against the gray sky
takes your breath away.
I watch your eyes travel up its side.
You remember to exhale, eventually, eyes still stuck
looking for the border between cement block and sky.
Your breath hangs, steam for a moment
and I inhale a little,
like the times we share cigarettes,
smoke mixing,
both feeling it inside ourselves.
You claim you can’t believe in love, but
isn’t that what this is? Your steam-breath trapped inside me
as I watch you find the building beautiful?

I'm not opening this up for exploration in the same way as the others, but it's an idea of the level of polish/density I'm going for.
